Each Sunday Evening (during the school year) from 5:00pm to 7:00pm a group of about 20 middle school and high school students gather in a positive and safe environment for dinner, games, discussion of teen issues, and service opportunities.
Recently we invited neighboring DOC youth groups to join us in a Love Feast! Woodmont, New Covenant, and DOC Nashville Hispanic youth groups joined us in a time of communion, fellowship, and games.
Youth are encouraged to attend our regional summer church camp at Bethany Hills, as well as two weekend retreats during the year.
Each summer we take a youth immersion trip. Every four years our aim is to spend time somewhere local, rural, urban, and international. Our hope is that we will immerse ourselves into the communities in order to learn as much as we can about the host community as well as participate in service projects. The main difference in an immersion trip is the emphasis on learning and experiencing instead of thinking we can go and fix the problems before we fully understand the community.
Recent trips include:
2015: Nashville and St. Louis
2014 Guatemala: Guatemala blog
2012 New York City (urban ministry with Rauschenbusch Ministries)
